A requirement of any initiative sponsored by the programme is that it should be catalytic and creative in nature, sustainable, inclusive and developmental within the key focus areas.

Project selection would be on a competitive basis in order to:

• Generate best ideas
• Spark synergies and forge collaborations e.g. between individuals, NGOs, the public & private sectors
• Mobilize additional resources, e.g. via matching grants & partnerships

Grants under the George Town Grants Programme could be made to:

• Organisations or individuals who are direct and indirect stakeholders in the George Town WHS.
• There will be no discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, class or political affiliation.
• All physical realm projects must be located in the George Town core and buffer zone of the WHS
